Before your laser hair reduction appointment, it's important to take a few steps in preparations. Start by reading up on the procedure so you understand what will happen during the appointment.
Make sure to shave the area that needs to be treated, but don't wax, tweeze, or thread for four weeks prior. Continue to shave only between treatments. Avoid sun or use any other hair removal methods for at least six weeks prior.
You also want to avoid tanning, spray tanning, or tanning beds for two weeks prior and after treatment - this is because the laser needs pale skin in order to work its magic! All retinol containing products need to be discontinued seven days prior to treatment. And lastly, avoid any forms of prolonged heat like saunas or steam rooms up to one week before your appointment since this could have an unpleasant effect on your skin.
One would need to be off the medication Accutane for 6 months before treatment. We ask that you wear loose fitting clothes. If legs are being treated, no leggings please. Always inform our staff if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you are currently taking or recently completed a course of antibiotic or steroid. This treatment is not effective on white, blond, gray hair or “peach fuzz”.
Taking these small steps can ensure that you have a safe, successful laser hair removal experience!
