Post Treatment Instructions: For most people, swelling is likely. Ice packs may be used to the treated area during the first 12 hours—apply ice for 15 minutes on every hour. Do not massage the injection site. Avoid heavy exercise the day of your treatment. Consider any upcoming social plans and work commitments following your treatment.
Notify us if you routinely take anti-inflammatory drugs (steroidal and non-steroidal) such as aspirin, Motrin (or any other Ibuprofen drugs). Always check with your prescribing physician before stopping any medication. With PRP, we “want” an inflammatory response, therefore, we would like these medications discontinued at least 3 days to 1 week before your treatment.
Inquire about continuing prior to treatment any blood thinning agents such as Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s and DHA’s), etc.
It is recommended that you avoid: Alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, spicy foods, and cigarettes 3 days before and after your treatment. (All of these may increase risk of bruising).
